You can call me shelly or you can call me rae--some of you may call me sunshine, peaslake, or she who must be obeyed. Just don't call me very early, I probably won't answer.
Listen up, I'm telling stories here--some even may be true. I love a good story. My walls are insulated with books and I usually have two or three open at a time. I'm a voracious reader who also re-reads.
Most of my jobs have involved books in one way or another, or food. I've Managed a SF magazine (Locus), edited journals and books, taught English and Women's Studies classes at the college level, worked in specialty bookstores and libraries, tended bar, and made sandwiches. I've also worked at Molbak's--a terrific local garden center. Most recently I was a contractor writing Creative Content for Aion, a MMORPG from NCsoft.
Throwing pots is a favorite past-time. I enjoy experimenting with alternative firing techniques. I'm also working on a novel.
My graduate studies were in medieval literature.
I share my home with two orange stripey polydactyl kitties, Bartleby and Ishmael, the Melville brothers. I hope to get another dog someday soon as I miss my dear Gabriel.
